Lesotho is better known for its outdoor activities, but that doesn’t mean other forms of entertainment are lacking. The Morija Arts and Cultural Festival is one of the biggest annual events in Lesotho. It’s designed to showcase traditional and contemporary Basotho culture. Highlights include the mokhibo, where women dance on their knees and the mokorotlo war-dance. There is also contemporary live music. The Morija National Museum & Archives is perfect if you want to learn more about the history and culture of Lesotho.
Lesotho is also a great place for dinosaur fossil hunters. Dinosaur trackways are to be found at Tsikoane and Subeng. Other important sites include Qalo, Morija, Matsieng, and Maphutseng.
If you want some typically western-style nightlife you can head off to one of two casinos in Lesotho, both of which can be found near Maseru. Lesotho Sun contains some of the most popular restaurants in the region, including the renowned Lehaha Grill, as well as Maseru’s premier Chinese restaurant, China Dragon. Maseru also has some theatres and movie cinemas for night owls.
Alternatively you can visit the highest pub in Africa, which is located in Sani Top Chalet on the border between South Africa and Lesotho. The pub is 2874m above sea level.
